Periods 2 and 3
We took some time today to go over last night’s homework and gave some examples as to how to make it complete. We talked about answering the questions completely, reading the problems for understanding, and labeling answers.
In addition we wrote questions for the Cornell Notes on Problem 1.2.
Assignment: Period 2—on Problem 1.3 notes, answer all work above the
star line.
Answers can be found on page 7 in the book.
Period 3—same as Period 2 plus write the summary for Problem
1.2
Periods 4 and 5
We continued our work with writing linear equations. In the kinds of problems we did today we were given the slope and one point or we were given two points. In the former, we replaced the m in the equation with the slope that is given, the y with the y-coordinate that is given and the x with the x-coordinate that is given. From there it is possible to find b (the y-intercept). Knowing the values for the slope and the y-intercept, we were able to write the equation for the line. When given two points, you must first find the slope. After that you do exactly the same thing that you did in the other case.
