We post "I Can" statements on our class focus wall in order to highlight the essential understanding for the week or specific topic.

Math: I can find similarities between adding ones and adding groups of ten to find sums up to 100.

Reading: I can identify informational text elements such as bold face words, captions, an index, a glossary, and a table of contents. I can explain the usefulness of these elements and use them to guide my research. (Informational Text).

Writing: I can use informational text to guide my writing and include only the most important facts. I can answer questions that the reader may have about my subject area. (Expository)

Word Work: I can read and write my word wall words. I can recognize common spelling patterns in other words and spell words that follow that pattern correctly. For example, if I can spell clapped, I can also spell flapped and snapped.

Science: I can read through informational articles to find and collect the most important facts needed for my animal research project. (End of the year research project)
