Jan 13, 2013 Never, in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine that PENCILS would be one of my worst teacher nightmares. The constant whirring of the electric pencil sharpener. The wails of students without writing utensils during independent work. Oh and don’t forget the daily exercise of walking around your classroom and collecting pencils that dropped during the day to the floor. I’ve clocked some serious mileage with that fun activity. Nov 7, 2012 We have two upcoming events here at Wilcox. We have a Nelson’s Catering chicken dinner sponsored by the PTO on Thursday, November 15th. We are also selling raffle tickets to win a Thanksgiving turkey to be given away on Monday, November 19th. This raffle is to raise funds to purchase books for students in kindergarten, first, and second grades at our school.

Apr 11, 2012 We are having great success in addition. We have 23 students who have reached mastery on the 5 minute addition test!! Subtraction is still an area that needs lots of attention. We had only 6 students who reached mastery in subtraction. Keep practicing those subtraction facts at home.
Feb 10, 2012 Congratulations to all of the students that mastered all of their addition and subtraction facts on their quarterly screeners. We will keep working to add more faces to our group. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
Feb 7, 2012 We have been reading about amazing animals in our reading series. We were so excited to get a visit from Officer Termine, Officer Ealey, and Axel the K-9 dog from the Springfield Police Department on Monday morning! The officers explained how the K-9 officers work together to keep our city safe. We really learned a lot.
Dec 12, 2011 After reading A Trip to the Firehouse, we had a visit from a real fireman! Anna's grandpa came and talked to the class about being a fire fighter. Her grandma came and brought lots of cool things for us. Some of us even tried on the gear.
Oct 9, 2011 Some of our students have been busy composing their own poetry. I am so impressed!
