Students Participate in United Way's Day of Action

Oct 6, 2012 Students from Ms. Johnson and Ms. Bernstein's secondary work training classes spent the day cleaning up houses for the Springfield Housing Authority. Even though it was cold and rainy, the students worked hard, without complaining. It was a great day!

Biology- Skinning a Frog

Trip to Presidential Museum/ Abraham Lincoln Hotel

Feb 29, 2012 SWT students took a trip downtown to look at the "tourism and hospitality" career cluster. We toured the museum, then walked to the hotel where the general manager gave us a tour, talked about job opportunities, and gave us ob hunting advice!

United Way Day of Action Field Trip

Oct 14, 2011 Our SWT classes and some 21st Century students spent a day doing volunteer work for United Way. We visited the SPARC training center and watched the individuals make dog biscuits and then walked around and into businesses downtown Springfield to pass out free samples.

Diapers/Dollars for the Parent Place

Sep 13, 2011 De'Antae L. spearheaded a project to help replenish the collection of diapers that were lost as the result of a burglary at the Parent Place. He made signs and posters, recruited other volunteers, and collected donations of diapers and dollars to help this charity.

Downtown Field Trip

Mar 2, 2011 Students took a trip downtown, riding the city bus, to visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and the police department.

Bank of Springfield visit

Feb 16, 2011 Students from SWT visited Bank of Springfield to learn more about banking topics covered in class.
