Hello parents, students, and anyone else visiting my website! I'm Ms. Moon, one of the proud English teachers at Springfield High School. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I attended Eastern Illinois University where I earned a BA in English with a creative writing minor as well as my teacher's certification. I also attended the University of Illinois, Chicago, where I worked on my master's degree in American literature. I began teaching in District 186 in 2002 and have worked at Jefferson Middle School, Southeast High School, and Lanphier High School until, after an eight-year hiatus raising my two children, I returned to teach at SHS where I am beginning my seventh year. I have a personal stake in SHS, as well, as my daughter, Ava, is a freshman this year! My son, Jack, is a sixth-grader at Franklin Middle School, and I'm sure will be at SHS in the blink of an eye! I feel OLD!!! This year I am teaching 134 freshman English, 236 American literature, and creative writing! I am excited about the new school year and eager to start honing those reading and writing skills!! I love to laugh and have fun in my classroom and listen to your opinions and insights! Let's have a great 2018-2019 school year!
