Accelerated Reader

Aug 24, 2011 AR is a web-based program that allows students to take quizzes on books that they read independently to earn points. Students are given a point goal that they must meet by the end of each quarter. Their goals are based on their independent reading ranges, or ZPDs. Students are taught how to find books within their ZPDs, and they should be able to pass AR quizzes if they are reading books within this range. READ MORE

Welcome back!

Aug 24, 2011 Welcome to another fantastic year of Language Arts and Literature at WMS! There are a few changes this year. I have moved to room 104, which gives us much more space for our classroom library and for working in groups! This year, I will be teaching Advanced Language Arts for 6th grade during 1st block, and for 8th grade during 3rd block. During last block, I work on data management of our literacy assessments for all WMS students. Let's have a wonderful year!

Apr 12, 2011 Check out my students' best poetry in the Poetry All-Stars section of my web page. My 7th and 8th grade students uploaded their poetry to their webpages, and I chose the best ones to be featured on my website. The students were required to put figurative language in their poems. Sep 29, 2010 I am getting married on October 2, 2010, and my new name will be Mrs. Sevener. I will be out October 4-8 for my honeymoon. Look for pictures of the wedding when I get back!
