German Trip June 2013

Mar 26, 2013 All plans have been made and we are anxiously anticipating this trip of a lifetime! We depart from O'Hare airport on Wednesday, June 20th. We return to the U.S. on July 2nd. We will start our tour in Berlin traveling across the country and seeing the sites in Munich, Heidelberg, Rothenburg, and then on to our sister city in Springe, Germany.

Community Engagement ~ Come sing with us!

Nov 25, 2012 This month the German department has been invited to sing at 4 different local events to help celebrate the season and teach others the sounds and traditions of German-speaking countries. We will be singing at Springfield's very first Christkindlmarkt (open air market) on December 1st. On the corner of MacArthur and Edwards you will see tents set up where everything from authentic baked goods to German Christmas ornaments will be sold. READ MORE

October 2012 German Exchange

Oct 15, 2012 Once again we have the privilege of hosting students and teachers from our sister school in Springe, Germany from October 12th through October 27th. Many thanks to the wonderful families that have committed to hosting. It will be a wonderful experience for all!

Black History and Germany

Feb 7, 2012 "Black Germans? Non-Germans may be understandably surprised to learn that there are Afro-Germans (Afrodeutsche), but many Germans themselves are unaware of the concept of a German who is also black (ein Schwarzer). While compared to other minorities, such as the 2 million Turks living in Germany, Afro-Germans are definitely a tiny minority among Germany's 82 million people. READ MORE

EF Germany Tour of 2013

Sep 14, 2011 Informational Meeting: Wednesday, November 9th, 6 p.m. in Room 120 The next Germany tour is scheduled for the month of June in 2013, exact date to be established. We will be touring with an educational tour company for approximately 10 days, after which we will visit our sister city and stay with our German exchange friends.
