Mentoring matches caring adults in the community with youth who could benefit from positive adult role models. Research suggests that mentoring is effective in improving the self-esteem, attitudes, attendance and achievement of school-aged children. The relationship that develops between mentors and students is key to the success of the match. District 186 has a number of mentoring programs. Mentors Committed to Excellence is a 1:1 mentoring program that places mentors in schools districtwide.
All individuals interested in serving as mentors must complete a mentor application. Please complete and mail or fax to us. The mailing address and fax number are provided on the application.
