Four seats on the Board of Education, Springfield Public School District #186, will be up for election in the April 6, 2021 Consolidated Election. These seats are for Sub-Districts 1, 4, 5 and 6. Candidates in these Sub-Districts will be seeking two-year terms ending in 2023.
Any resident of these sub-districts who meets the qualifications to be a candidate may pick up a candidate’s packet from the office of the Board Secretary, located in the Administrative Center at 1900 W. Monroe Street, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. However, in an effort to reduce foot traffic in the Administrative Center and provide interested residents with a contact-less method to obtain the candidate's packet, anyone interested in obtaining a packet is encouraged to dowload the pdf, below, or visit this page of the Sangamon County Clerk's website, where the packet can be downloaded for printing at home. The first day to circulate nominating petitions for signature is September 22, 2020.
Potential candidates are reminded that nominating papers must be filed with the Election Office of the Sangamon County Clerk during the period of December 14 to December 21, 2020. Additional information regarding qualifications to be a candidate and filing of petitions should be directed to the Election Office of the Sangamon County Clerk, Room 105, County Building, 200 S. Ninth Street, Springfield, Illinois 62701, 217/753-8683, or on this page of their website.
Potential candidates are also encouraged to visit the Illinois Association of School Board's website where additional resources for candidates can be found.
