COVID & Remote Learning

Superintendent's Family Message April 27, 2020

April 28, 2020

As we kick off another week of remote learning, I am encouraged by the continued engagement of students and teachers. I know this is not how any of us envisioned the last month of school, but I am proud of the resilience and ability to adapt to changing circumstances that I see across our District 186 family.

As we adapt to remote learning, we are also confronted daily with new information and recommendations to protect our health. The most recent is a mandate from the state requiring the use of face coverings. Beginning May 1, Illinois residents over the age of 2 are required to wear a mask or other face covering when in public places. If you have friends or family who aren’t sure how best to use a mask, or aren’t sure why it’s so important, share this video available on Memorial’s Facebook page.

  • Wear a cloth face covering over your nose and mouth. It will protect people from you and when others are covered they protect you.

  • They should be worn in public settings, around other people.

  • You still need your space – at least six feet away.

  • Children younger than two years or anyone who has trouble breathing and unable to remove the cover without help should not wear face coverings.

By following the stay at home order and using masks when we have to go out, we are all doing our part for the greater good. Another way that we can all pitch in is to complete our Census. When we all respond, we all benefit.
