Select Self-Contained Targeted Special Education Groups Return October 20

Oct 15, 2020 Beginning on Tuesday, October 20, select self-contained targeted special education groups will be returning to in-person learning in a hybrid format. Schools have already communicated directly with families whose students have been identified as one of these targeted groups, which include K-5 Autism, Emotional Disorder, Cross-Categorical and K-12 Life Skills. Students in identified self-contained programs will return to in-person learning on a hybrid A/B schedule. READ MORE

May 11, 2020 Today we are sharing our plans for honoring our graduating seniors. We’ve received updated guidance in recent days and have developed a three-prong approach to recognizing the Class of 2020. The approach seeks to celebrate those that would have received honors at each school’s Senior Honors Nights, seeks to minimize the loss of the actual graduation ceremony on May 30, 2020, and lastly seeks to provide that important need for students to be able to wear their gowns and feel the... May 4, 2020 This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Normally, we would be gearing up to celebrate our Horace Mann Educator of the Year, Administrator of the Year and Rising Stars at our annual luncheon. This tradition of more than 30 years is just one of the many milestones that we have to retool this year. On Wednesday, May 6, the day the original luncheon was scheduled, we will still make the announcement of the winners and all finalists will receive a special delivery. READ MORE

Apr 21, 2020 Tune In - Radio Reading “District 186 Story Time” Beginning Wednesday, April 22, 96.7 FM radio will be airing a District 186 Storytime at 11:30 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday through the remainder of the school year. Families can listen to a story while enjoying their lunch. The first 15 minutes (11:30 - 11:45) will be geared toward PreK to second grade learners and the second 15 minutes (11:45 - 12:00) will be geared towards grade 3-5 learners. READ MORE
