National Board Teachers Renew Certification!

Oct 28, 2011 Krista VanderLeest, science teacher at Springfield High School, and Sara Oehlert, 1st grade teacher at Iles School, were notified today that they met the standards for renewal of National Board Certification set by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). Teachers who achieve National Board Certification have met rigorous standards through intensive study, expert evaluation, self-assessment and peer review. READ MORE

Teacher Leadership Scholarship

Oct 22, 2011 Teacher Leadership Scholarship In support of teacher leadership throughout Illinois, IWEL will award scholarships of $565, funds permitting, to two Illinois teachers pursuing National Board certification during the 2011-2012 school year. To be eligible, applicants must be employed as a teacher in an Illinois school during the 2011-2012 school year, registered as a first-year National Board candidate during the 2011-2012 school year, and a member of IWEL during the 2011-2012 school year... National Board Candidate Fee Subsidy Still Available

Jun 11, 2011 Many teachers and counselors have inquired about the availability of funding for the Illinois NBPTS Candidate Fee Subsidy. In a recent email from Deb Kasperki, Director of the National Board Resource Center at Illinois State, it is not to late to apply. The $2,000 Candidate Fee Subsidy is in the final year so it is important that all teachers and counselors wishing to become National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) take advantage of this amazing opportunity. National Board Subsidy Still Available for Candidates

May 16, 2011 The 2011-2012 Spring Window for the Illinois NBPTS Candidate Fee subsidy has been extended until June 15, 2011 or until 933 Illinois First-Time Candidates have been approved. Candidates will now be approved on a first come, first served basis. There will be no waiting list. READ MORE
