The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 3rd at SHS from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Students will not be admitted after 8:00 p.m. Students will enter through security at the main doors off Lewis Street. Tickets are $15 per person. All students will pass through metal detectors and a bag search for entry. If a SHS student is bringing an outside guest, the proper guest form must be filled out in its entirety and returned to the Guidance Office by Thursday, October 1st at 3:30 p.m. Late forms are not accepted. Guest forms are available in the Guidance Office. All guests must have valid picture identification. No exceptions will be made on the form or guest IDs in the name of safety and security. Guests must arrive/leave and stay with their SHS student at all times.
Students on both lunch shifts - you may not bring any computer bags or trapper like binders into the cafeteria while getting your hot lunch. You can leave computer bags in your locker or outside the cafeteria while you get your lunch.
*PSAT/NMSQT sign-up is now available in the Guidance Office. The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for Juniors; however, freshmen and Sophomores can also take the exam. Any junior or senior who is interested in working at an election site on November 3rd from 6am to 7pm, please see Mr. Lightfoot for an application and details. To apply, you must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and parent permission.
If you love reading and talking about books and want to get involved in some extra SHS fun, then Book Club is the perfect club for you! We are having our first meeting of the year today from 3:30-4:30 in Ms. Negele's room (3312). This is a stress-free group for nice people who want to hang out, chat about books, and get recommendations. Everyone is invited, and we hope to see you on the 24th!
Scholastic Bowl will have its first practice and informational meeting for new players today 3:30-5 in Dr. Eaton's room 3302. There will be a brief new parent meeting after in the Commons. See Dr Eaton with questions or if you can't make it.
Seniors and Juniors - college rep visit season is upon us. Check Canvas announcements and the college visits tab for info about who is coming and when they are. This week, 3 visits are scheduled, and more will make their way to SHS in the coming weeks. See Canvas for more info or ask Kramer.
Let’s get spirit week started! Sunday afternoon we kick off the week with Juniors and Seniors competing in the PowderPuff game while all four classes work to decorate their hallway. Spirit Week will begin Monday, themes will be announced Thursday. Tuesday evening we will host our yearly Solon Olympics where classes compete in a series of games to see who is the best at SHS, Friday evening we have our tailgate before the game and followed by the football game against Quincy Notre Dame, we culminate with the dance Saturday evening! Be sure to participate and be as involved as possible the whole week to make it the best experience we can. You know who has school spirit? Matt Murphy! We are all lucky to be in this building with him. Such poise and grace. Be like Matt!
Monday is Album Cover Day - Come dressed in your favorite artist apparel, look like your favorite artists, match an album cover, wear a shirt with an album cover, do it all!
Tuesday is Opposites Attract - Find a friend and dress like opposite things, or on your own dress partially one thing and partially it's opposite.
Wednesday is Wrong Place, Wrong Time - Come dress for any other event that isn't scheduled for today - be ready four your game, for prom, for anything!

The girls volleyball team won game one of the City Tournament last night against Lanphier 25-7, 25-12. Tonight's game is against SE at 7pm.
The Springfield High School Girls Tennis Team hosted Rochester yesterday and played well, capturing a convincing 9-0 victory. In singles, Madisyn WIlliams, Ida Seeger, Zoey Thongsithavong, London Thongsithavong, Priya Sumant and Saara Sharma claimed victories. At doubles, the teams of Madisyn WIlliams/London Thongsithavong, Abigail Eldridge/Grace Cosenza-Stanley and Priya Sumant/Hannah Janetzke won.
In other action, the doubles teams of Alivia Rothermich/Charlotte Potts, Maria DeJong/Lillian Bryjka, Claribel Suarez/Charlotte Potts and Fatima Chipol/Alivia Rothermich were victorious.

The soccer team defeated Southeast 5-0 last night. Mayango Jallah, Omar El-Alrich, Jude Pagliara, Nick Schuster and Cress Maddox scored for the Senators. Kai Rinaberger, Omar El-Arlich and Val Martin picked up assists. Mason Burr earned the shut out.
Lastly, we received reports that students are jumping the new fence on Monroe Street - please, in the name of safety, use the official fence entrances and don’t jump over the rails. If you damage the fence, you may face consequences and may be responsible for the cost of repairs. Thank you!
