Welcome to the Physical Education/Health Page

District #186 is striving to provide activities and instructional learning in order for our students to become fit, healthy, and well-educated. Research has shown that physical activity helps students emotionally and academically. Health instruction is of paramount importance in our ever changing society, as well. PE teachers use pedometers and heart rate monitors daily in their classes. The students are taught how to wear and use them and how to read and interpret the data. It is the goal for all students to be moving at least 80% of the time. Activities are organized to give every student maximum opportunities to participate. Muscle building, flexibility, and cardio activities are planned on a daily basis. In grades 4-10, students participate in fitness testing. Health instruction is offered in order to build knowledge and develop good habits. Students are exposed to real-world learning experiences with opportunities to work collaboratively to solve problems.  Questions related to the Health and Physical Education programs in District #186 can be addressed by individual schools or by the School Support Office.
