We couldn't say good-bye to November, without giving our 'THANKS' to the Springfield Public Schools Foundation, for awarding grants to several of our educators, this year.
Mr. Ruyle received a $6,500 Special Project Grant, which will fund a Lego MindstormV3 Robotics program, in turn, supporting the STEAM culture that is thriving throughout our building. Opportunities created as a result of this grant will include a visit from NASA Education, who will provide additional resources for our students who will engage in space exploration from their classrooms. The Lego Mindstorm V3 Robotics program will also include a professional development cohort, which will be available and accessible to each teachers in our school.
The First Grade Team of Mrs. Drennen, Mrs. Dupuis, and Mrs. Divjak, won a Classroom Library Grant, to help support ST(R)EAM learning with their students. New collections of science-based titles will help to enhance hands-on learning, while tracking with ELA, as a critical component of the core standards.
Ms. Marcy, our Art Teacher, was also awarded a Classroom Library Grant, which she has used to grow the Art Room's unique collection - with new books about diverse cultures, communities, and citizens from all over the world, that are connected to the Visual and Performing Arts.
Congratulations, Dubois educators... and many thanks to SPSF!
