Note From The Principal:

April 3, 2011

Dear Dubois families –

ISAT is over and we feel confident about our student’s performance. Hopefully we will find out our scores before school is let out for the summer. Speaking of warmer weather please be vigilant about your child’s dress for learning. Due to 500+ students, 3 levels of stairs and climbing on the playground equipment we do not allow plastic or rubber flip-flops. Additionally, sun dresses, spaghetti straps and thin-strapped tank tops are forbidden. Students will be reminded of this at school as well.

Our busiest times of the day are the beginning and the end of the day. We are well aware of the safety concerns about students crossing the streets unattended and are asking for your assistance. Please let students out of your vehicles so that they do not have to cross the street or physically cross them yourself. We have had numerous close calls with students who run out into the street while another driver is not paying attention to them. Additionally, Sacred Heart Griffin’s circle drive and parking lot are not available to us for parking at the end of the day – please find an alternate location to meet your child at dismissal.

Thinking ahead to next year – many parents like to make requests for their teachers for the following school year. All requests must be in writing to me by the last day of school and your letter should include reasons for your request. Class lists are determined by several things such as special education, racial percentages and student make up, therefore, requests are not always granted but considered.

Lastly, spring break is April 18 – 22 with school resuming on the 25th. Due to the snow days taken in February, the last day of student attendance is June 6th in which students will be dismissed at 10:00. Additionally students will be dismissed at 2:00 on June 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Thank you for your continued support!

Cindy J. Baugher, Principal
