Dear Dubois families:
Thank you for your support during our math night! We had a packed house to learn about our Envision Math Series and play some of the curricular games that students learn while in class. Please remember that you can access the Envision Math site from your computer at home. All you need is your students lunch pin number (which they should know). If you have difficulty accessing or have other questions please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.
I trust that each of you got the SES tutoring letter that I sent home a few weeks ago. Thirty hours of tutoring is available to every child at Dubois through the specific providers that were listed on the blue sheet. You, as the parent, need to pick which provider best fits for you and your student. At this point the window is closed but will reopen again in the spring for those that still want to fulfill their 30 hours of tutoring for their child. If you signed up for tutoring and have not been contacted by a provider by mid October please contact the school to let me know.
Dismissal time can be somewhat crazy with 500 students being dismissed at the same time. Please use caution at all times when driving a vehicle anywhere near the school. Short tempers and horn honking does not create a safe environment for our students. The best thing for you to do is park your car in a designated spot (not on SHG's lot) and walk up to get your child. This may be a block away from the school but it's better than dealing with all the traffic congestion. Additionally, DO NOT leave your car unattended in the middle of the street. We will escort your child to your car as we teach the children that they are not allowed to enter the street without an adult. Leaving the car unattended only causes more of a traffic jam.
I hope to see everyone at our after hours fall festival which will be held Thursday, October 13th from 5:30 - 7:00. The FACE team is planning lots of activities for students and their families to be in engaged in and we hope you can all attend.
Thank you for your support!
