Note From The Principal:

October 28, 2011

Dear Dubois Families,

Thank you to all who participated in the parent teacher conferences last month. We had conferences with more than 90% of our families which is a positive sign about parent - teacher communication. Working together is definitely a step in the right direction in helping students be successful. If you continue to have questions or didn't get an opportunity to meet with your child's teacher, please contact them @ 525-3204 to set up an appointment.

We have windows on three sides of the building and the guys are currently working on the east (and most difficult) side. The windows being placed in the openings is just the beginning of the work that needs to be done. Then insulation, trim, paint and caulking still need to be added. The work is being accomplished with as little interruption as possible to the students but some days we just have to "think on our feet".  When the weather turns cold, I would suggest that students dress in layers in case there is still work to be done in their classrooms.

Thank you to all who attended our "Fall into Reading" night on October 13th. We had 125 slots reserved and when over 200 people showed up we ran out of food! We loved having that many students and families come and hope we can get our numbers much closer to reality next time.  Kudos to Ms. Carlis Thomas and the FACE team for organizing a great event. Our next event at the school will be on January 19th and it will be a combined event of "Write Night" and a Health Fair.  Please come to our next FACE meeting on December 13th @ 6:00pm to help plan this event.

For those of you that signed up for tutoring from an outside provider: I received notice the week of Oct 17th that all providers had been given a list of students who were requesting their services. At this point the providers should have contacted you to begin tutoring your child. If you signed up for tutoring (which had to be done prior to the end of September) and you haven't heard anything, please contact me at 525-3204.

Once again, thanks for your support!
