Note From The Principal:

December 4, 2011

Dear Parents:

I hope your holiday season is filled with gratitude for the many gifts we have everyday ... especially your children. They certainly fill us with joy and happiness when their presence is mirrored by their preparedness and willingness to learn. We will dismiss school at 2:00pm on December 20th for the winter break and will resume school on January 4th, 2012. Many classrooms have winter parties beginning @ 1:00pm, but please be mindful of those that do not celebrate Christmas or those that have food allergies.

Just to keep you posted on a few things happening during the month of December: We were fortunate enough to be chosen by Springfield High School as the school to receive a special dinner and program for 100 of our students. Students were contacted last week and I am sure we will all have a great time! Thank you to the Springfield High School student council for thinking of us! For several years we have offered an intervention program for kindergarten and first grade parents of students who are most at risk of failure. Students are chosen by their teachers by using real time data in the classroom such as DIBELs scores, letter naming, DRA and math facts. This program is supported by Title I funds and our parent educator. Parents who are invited to this are encouraged to come.

Lastly, we do go outside here - even if it's cold. Please be sure to dress your child warmly with hats and gloves. We do have some to give out to students, but it is not a never ending supply. We will go outside as long as the "feels like" temperature is 20 degrees or above.

Thanks for your support!
