Dear Families;

We are already several days into the second semester and the time is flying! Obviously our main focus here is the academic success of all of our students, but we are additionally concerned about their physical health as well. Therefore, we try to get students outside to play and move every day that we can. If the "feels like" temperature is 20 degrees or above we do send students outside for recess. Please be sure that they are dressed warmly with coats, hats and gloves. We have had many donations of these items and try to help as many students as we can but it seems we never have enough. Yes, we do have a lost and found on the bottom and main floors of the building - you are more than welcome to check it at any time.

The ISAT testing period is the first two weeks of March for all third through fifth grade students. We made fantastic gains last year (which are on our front bulletin board) but we still did not make adequate yearly progress. We hope to make that mark this year, but if not we will settle for the great gains we saw last year. You can help out by making sure that your child is at school and prepared for their day.

It is extremely important that children are at school on time to be able to receive all of the instruction we provide for them. Instruction begins in classrooms by 8:35 every day and if a child consistently comes in at 9:00 they will be missing two hours of instruction for the week. Two hours of direct instruction is a lot of time and will prove to be detrimental to the success of your child.

As always, thank you for your support -
Cindy J. Baugher
