February is heart health month, not only should we be thinking of ways to improve our wellbeing, we need to look at our children’s health. Here are some helpful tips to help your child develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
*Be a good role model. Your children do and will follow what they see you do. Healthy eating and keeping active are two great messages to send to your child.
*Limit TV and computer time. These activities encourage a sedentary lifestyle.
*Make dinnertime family time. Get everyone involved in the planning and preparing of dinner. Children tend to enjoy new foods more when they are the ones cooking them. Spending this time together is also an easy way to catch up with each other.
*Encourage physical activities that everyone will enjoy. Let your child experiment with a variety of sports or other activities. Make exercise fun by choosing activities like playing at the park and bike rides.
