Note from the Principal:

Dear parents and stakeholders:

Thank you so much for all your support during the school year. Your support during family nights, parent teacher conferences, and student of the week breakfasts is immeasurable and greatly appreciated. Working in partnership to assist our children in making good choices is important the overall well being for all our students. Recently United Methodist Church approached us about developing a partnership with Dubois Elementary in an effort to give back to society. They responded to our need of school supplies, hats, gloves, scarves and more importantly to a particular family in need. They have been a great partner already and we've only be in this relationship for a week.  We are hoping that they will be able to provide manpower in the future as well during our family events and possibly helping in the classrooms as well.
January is also the month in which we do our mid year assessment for DIBELs. Remember this test measures a students fluency level and is many times a predictor to ISAT success. Last week every child at Dubois was tested and the results have been given to the teachers for analysis. During the February 2nd full day workshop (no school) teachers will discuss the grade level plan for improving those scores so that at least 80% of our students are at benchmark. Honestly we have some children who showed great gains while others did not show any. It is now our charge to figure out our next step for intervention.
We have slightly over 15 days of instruction left prior to ISAT which is March 2nd - 12th. As many of you know this is a high stakes test for all our third - fifth grade students. We will be offering a couple of after school and evening events to learn about ISAT and about Study Island.  Study Island is a web based program that our TItle I budget bought for all 2nd - 5th grade students to be able to work on grade level material while on the computer. If your child is in 2nd -5th grade they should know their password to access their individual site at www.studyisland.com. This is a really great program that we want all children to participate in!!

Thanks for all you do!
