Dear Dubois stakeholders -
First of all, I want to thank all of you for your patience when picking up your children at the end of the day. After instituting the pick up/drop off area proposed by the city we will determine if another proposal is necessary. I appreciate the support from each of you, the school board as well as the city of Springfield in this endeavor to keep our children safe.
The Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) is taken by all 3rd - 8th graders in Illinois during the month of March. We recently got the results from last years test and I'm happy to report that Dubois Elementary made the annual yearly progress (AYP) goal in both reading and math set by the state of Illinois of 62.5% of students meeting or exceeding standards. According to the report from the Illinois State Board of Education 69.9% of our students met or exceeded the goal in reading and 78.9% of our students met or exceeded the goal in math. The staff will work to determine what subgroups (gender, race, income level, special ed) do we need the most help in and then realign our resources to reflect those needs.
We will be starting tutoring soon, however our resources are limited. We will use the data we have gathered about our students to then determine who will be eligible for tutoring. If your child is chosen for tutoring, you will be contacted about the times and duration.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns.
