February is Black History Month and at Feitshans Elementary School we will recognize the contributions of African Americans through a "Black History Fest." Students will participate in special activities, including the construction of a quilt, each Friday in February. We have a display in the main foyer showcasing African American inventions, and banners featuring Historic Black Colleges and Universities on display throughout the building. A "Treasure Hunt for Facts" game will be played daily in which student respond and winners are chosen each day. Students enjoyed listening to African American community members read during our annual "African American Read-In" last Friday. A huge thanks to Mrs. Richmond and the team of staff members that have made Black History Month at Feitshans Elementary a success!
