P-EBT Information

You may have heard about a new supplemental nutrition benefit offered by the state and federal government that will be available to all District 186 families and families in Illinois. The Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program, supplies debit cards to every family to purchase food for each eligible child. All students in District 186 are eligible for this benefit, because all receive free breakfast and lunch through the Community Eligibility Provision of the National School Lunch Program. In the coming weeks, families will begin to receive these cards in the mail, totaling $6.82 for each day the child did not have access to meals at school even if you picked up meals at one of our sites. There is no application required. Cards will be mailed directly to the address we have on file for your student(s). Please keep an eye out for these cards in the mail and do not accidentally discard them.  For more information on this benefit, please visit https://www.dhs.state.il.us/page.aspx?item=131776. This is not a District 186 program, but we want you all to know why you are receiving this resource. We will be limited in our ability to answer any questions that you may have regarding this program.
