Good Morning GMS students and staff and Welcome to another edition of the morning announcements. I’m Mr. Hood and I’m flying solo coming straight at you from the GMS studios!
Today is Thursday, September 17th. It is “Thermal Thursday” where we talk about ways to stay HOT during remote learning. Last week, we talked about the S in SLANT. I want to take a moment to elaborate on that. The S stands for space. I’ve been in quite a few zoom meetings and I’ve seen students sitting up and at a table, however… I’ve seen the opposite as well. Students laying on a couch, in bed, wrapped up in a blanket. In order to be successful students, you need to have a space where you can write, concentrate, and be comfortable all at the same time. Please take a moment to check your space.
Students with the last name A-K are synchronous which means that they are logging into each class on Canvas and clicking on their zoom links to meet face to face. Students with the last name L-Z, this is your day log into Canvas, check-in with each class and complete any assignments that are do.
Remember, if something doesn’t work right or you can’t find an assignment, try again… If it still doesn’t work email your teacher your problem. Also, don’t forget that teachers have office hours from 1:45-2:45 each day.
Birthday wishes go out to Rylee B. and Lichele R. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Now lets stand for the pledge of allegiance
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
You may be seated. Let us pause for a moment of silence. Use this time to personally reflect on ways you can be successful today.
Today’s weather includes partly cloudy skies with 75 degrees as the high. Perfect time to get outside and do your aerobics outside with Mrs. Montooth!
In sports, the Cubs won in dramatic fashion in the 10th inning to beat Cleveland 3-2, And the cardinals lost won and won one in their double header against the Brewers. The Cubs hold a 5 and a half game lead in the division over the cardinals and the reds.
For breakfast and lunch today, the cafeteria has prepared a bagel with cream cheese and a meatloaf sandwich, back in my day they used to call that a mystery meat sandwich… Remember, breakfast and lunch can be picked up in the parking lot behind GMS or any school that is serving food, from 7:00-11:30. If you aren’t going to eat your food right away, be sure to store it in the fridge and then heat it up when you are ready to eat.
2019-2020 yearbooks are in! If you ordered a yearbook last year, come in to see Ms. Marsha to pick it up! If you didn’t order one, they being sold for $20 each.
And now for today’s Welcoming Ritual. Where have you travelled? What is your favorite location? I would say that my favorite spot would be LA. There is so much to do and so much to see.
And that wraps it up for today’s announcements. A big SHOUT OUT to my new friend Jayden M. He came to the school yesterday to get things all squared away so that he can be successful, and he is a huge Cubs fan!
Until next time everyone, Work hard and be safe!
