9/22/2020 GMS Announcements

September 22, 2020

Good Morning GMS students and staff and Welcome to Tuesday’s morning announcements! I’m Mr. Hood and this is Mr. Hoffek are we are coming straight at you from the GMS studios!

First things first, Attention all 6th graders and new students to Springfield!!!! You must get a physical and your shots! I hate em, you hate em, even Coach Taylor hates em, but you have to get them by October 1st. Please see the district’s home page for more information.

Today is Tuesday’s Terrific Teacher Spotlight. Today we spotlight Ms. Meneghetti. She is a Science teacher and has been at Grant since 2001. She went to Eastern Illinois University, UIS, and the University of St. Francis. Ms. Meneghetti enjoys walking, animals, and refurbishing furniture. She loves rocking out to Bon Jovi and Maroon 5 as well as traveling. Italian food is her absolute favorite and she is a lover of all animals. She has traveled to 19 countries, she has raised horses, competed with horses, and she saves feral cats by finding homes for them.

Thanks Mr. Hoffek. Let’s not forget about today’s birthdays at GMS… Do you hear that? Crickets… There are no student birthdays at GMS today, but it is my mom’s birthday! Happy birthday Mother Hood!

With that, let us stand for the pledge.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

You may be seated. Let us pause for a moment of silence. Use this time to personally reflect on ways you can be successful today.

Today’s weather includes partly cloudy skies with a high near 78 degrees.

In sports, the Cubs finally scored some runs and beat the Pirates. The Cardinals lost to Kansas City. The Cubs have a 4 and a half game lead above both the Cards and the Reds.

Monday Night football was extremely exciting as New Orleans Lost by 10 to Las Vegas, didn’t see that coming….

GMS baseball concluded it’s season last night with a loss to Lincoln Magnet School. Even though the season is over, the boys showed some great improvement.

For breakfast and lunch today, the cafeteria has prepared a sausage and egg bagel and a rib sandwich… Mmmm Mmmm put some Sweet Baby Ray’s on that… Remember, breakfast and lunch can be picked up in the parking lot behind GMS from 7:00-11:30. If you aren’t going to eat your food right away, be sure to store it in the fridge and then heat it up when you are ready to eat.

And now for today’s Welcoming Ritual. What is your dream job? Teachers, please give a moment during Advisory to let students share.

And that wraps it up for today’s announcements. A big SHOUT OUT to Kellie P. for  working hard and seeking extra help when she needed it, keep up the good work! Don’t forget! 2019-2020 YEARBOOKS ARE IN! GET THEM WHILE THEY ARE HOT. THEY ARE FLYING OFF THE SHELVES! And with that ladies and gentlemen….

Work hard and be safe!
