Good Morning GMS students and staff and Welcome to Tuesday’s morning announcements! I’m Mr. Hood and this is Mr. Hoffek are we are coming straight at you from the GMS studios!

First things first, Attention all 6th graders and new students to Springfield!!!! You must get a physical and your shots! I hate em, you hate em, even Coach Taylor hates em, but you have to get them by October 1st that’s this Thursday! Please see the district’s home page for more information.

Also, today is an asynchronous day for students with the last name L-Z, that means that you should be doing two main things. First, listen tho these announcements, then go to the GMS website and click on the banner that says ATTENDANCE and answer the welcoming ritual question. Thats for your attendance today. Then you should be logging into Canvas, going to each class, and completing assignments that are due. Students with the last name A-K, this is your day to get on Canvas, click on the zoom link, and be ready to participate in class.

Today is Tuesday’s Terrific Teacher Shot out! Today we are shout out to Mrs. Buckles! Mrs. Buckles is a history teacher and BBSS Coach, she has worked at GMS for 13 years. She went to Lincoln Land Community College, Illinois State University, and NOVA Southeastern University. She loves to read, garden, and paint. Some of her favorite things include the color purple and warm chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven.  One thing you should know… Instead of riding off in a limo after their wedding, Mrs. Buckles and her husband rode skateboards to get away! Mrs. Buckles, you are totally rad and we love you!

We had a bunch of birthdays over the weekend… Happy birthday to Alexis G, Harmony C, Nashia C, and Madison C. And today we have De’Nijah H, Nevaeh C, and Madison H. Happy Birthday!

With that, let us stand for the pledge.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

You may be seated. Let us pause for a moment of silence. Use this time to personally reflect on ways you can be successful today.

Today’s weather includes partly cloudy skies with a high of only 64… Getting a little chilly these days…

In sports, it ill be the Miami Heat against the LA Lakers in the NBA finals, our hometown boy Andre Iguodala is heading back to the finals for the 6th time in a row!

In Monday night football action, the Chiefs handed the Ravens their first loss of the year, 34-20.

And the hockey season has come to an end as Tampa Bay won the Stanley Cup last night 2-0 against Dallas…. Who knew???

For breakfast and lunch today, the cafeteria has prepared an egg and cheese bagel and lasagna with a side of garlic bread to fight off the vampires… Remember, breakfast and lunch can be picked up in the parking lot behind GMS from 7:00-11:30. If you aren’t going to eat your food right away, be sure to store it in the fridge and then heat it up when you are ready to eat.

And now the moment all of you non-boomers are waiting for! Today’s Welcoming Ritual. What class have you enjoyed the most so far this year? Teachers give students a chance to share. Asynchronous, non-zoomer students, go to the GMS homepage, all you have to do is click on the big “attendance” banner, and answer the question on the Google form. Get that finished before 10:00! Then do your work on Canvas.

And that wraps it up for today’s announcements. A big SHOUT OUT to Jamarion B. He has all 32 AVID assignments turned in! Don’t forget! 2019-2020 YEARBOOKS ARE IN! GET THEM WHILE THEY ARE HOT. THEY ARE FLYING OFF THE SHELVES! One last thing, have your parents check their email! We will be starting a Springfield Coupon Book fund raiser so that we can spend some money celebrating you, the student! Details are in that email and will be on our website shortly… And with that ladies and gentlemen….

Work hard and be safe!
