Good Morning GMS students and staff today is Tuesday, September 15, 2020.
Happy birthday De’Yonte H, Tyson V, and Ja’Nyia E. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Since today is Tuesday, students with the last name A-K should be logging into Canvas and going to their Zoom links for each class. Students with the last name L-Z should be logging into each class on canvas and checking your assignments. Students, listen carefully… If you encounter any problems with Canvas, or Zoom… Don’t just sit there and give up. Try again. If you are still having problems, email your teacher right away. Communication is key!
Now lets stand for the pledge of allegiance
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
You may be seated. Let us pause for a moment of silence. Use this time to personally reflect on ways you can be successful today.
For today’s weather we should see sunny skies and highs in the low 80’s.
In other news, today is Tuesday’s terrific teacher shout out. Today we are shouting out to none other than Mrs. Rudin! Mrs. Rudin is a special education teacher.
She went to Illinois State University and has been teaching at Grant for 2 years.
She enjoys traveling and photography. She also likes nachos and her favorite animal is a sea turtle. Something unique about Mrs. Rudin is that she knows sign language.
We picked Mrs. Rudin this week because she, like many others, has gone out of her way to help students and teachers during this tough time.
Mrs. Rudin definitely goes above and beyond.
In sports, the Cubs had the day off while the Cardinals won one and lost one against the Brewers. The Cubs have a 4 game lead in the division, but the Cardinals are still in the hunt for the playoffs. 12 games remain on the schedule.
It was the first Monday night football games of the season… the Giants lost to the Steelers and the Titans beat the Broncos!
In cross country action yesterday, 7th grader Khorbin G. lit up the course and took 20 seconds off his best 2 mile time to place 2nd place and your GMS baseball team came up a little short against Christ the King, they added a game to the schedule for tonight and play Calvary at 4:30.
For breakfast and lunch today, the cafeteria has prepared a scrumptious scrambled egg wrap and chicken strips. Remember, breakfast and lunch can be picked up in the parking lot behind GMS from 7:00-11:30. If you aren’t going to eat your food right away, be sure to store it in the fridge and then heat it up when you are ready to eat.
And now for today’s Welcoming Ritual. If you could be better at 1 thing, what would it be? Teachers, give some time for students to talk and share their ideas.
That about wraps it up for today’s edition of the GMS morning announcements. We will be right back here tomorrow for wear it Wednesday! Don’t forget to wear GMS or college shirts to show your school spirit for the next 2 days!
