Drop Everything & Read — Make sure you have a book to read with you every period — we will be reading on Friday — Read something YOU like!!!! Mr. Morrow is reading The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck a classic novel.
Have you noticed kindness lately? Did someone let you borrow a pen or pencil in class? Did a teacher lend you a book when you forgot yours during drop everything and read? Let's tell about our kindness!! In all of your classrooms for the next couple of weeks you will be able to find strips of construction paper. Write a kind act you’ve experienced on the slip of paper and give it to your teacher. These are going to be put up around the halls so we can see that GMS IS KIND!!!
GMS Baseball wins again! Spreading 12 hits over 5 innings to win 21-0 vs Washington Middle School.
Aiden Heidenreich was 4 for 5 , 3 runs scored, and 1 Run batted in.
Nick Simmons was 1-1 with a run scored.
De'Undra Holmes was 1 for 1 with 2 runs scored.
Kavion Beler was 1 for 1 with 2 runs scored and 3 runs batted in.
Sam Foys got 4 scoreless innings pitched and 7 strike outs
Miles Leininger pitched 1 scoreless inning with thee strike outs.
“Pride of the Generals is a gay-straight-alliance club that supports our LGBTQ community at Grant Middle School. Anyone is welcome to attend; our next meeting is this Monday after school from 2:30-4:00 in the mobile.”
Show Choir will begin next Tuesday, September 17th right after school in room 124. The first meeting will be informational and our first rehearsal, so you can come check it out even if you aren't sure!!
Learning lab will be open next week T & Th— make sure you have a signed Learning Lab pass & work to do. All students must be signed in by 2:40 — Know what activity bus you need to ride — we only have 3 buses to choose from - bus stop sheets can be found in bookshelf in main lobby .
Reminder students school starts at 8:00 every day — the building opens for breakfast at 7:30 — Here at Grant we are" On Time and Ready to Learn Every Day! "…. because it matters and so do YOU!
Tardy count 8th grade 11 — 7th grade 5 & 6th grade 7 tardies — Being on time and ready to learn is a daily expectation at Grant
8th graders had 87 % attendance Wednesday, followed by 7th grade at 95% & 6th grade with 91% — whole building was at 91% - we need you here, it makes a difference
Teacher attendance was % 86 Tuesday
The following are daily reminders of behavior expectations and Grant rules:
Brushes , picks, combs, etc…. hair products are not allowed or too be used in class or hallways — Please keep in locker put away during the day.
Grant is a uniform school —advisory teachers please check students for uniform violations at this time and remind them of the policy— Hoodies must be school issued, sport , club or activity or a state series competition from IESA
Students the expectation in the hallway is to use appropriate language at all times— We are at school, be mindful of the language and respectful if corrected.
Cafeteria - raise your hand, push in chair, pick up trash , throw away trash and stack your trays today and every day!
Students Cell phones are not allowed to be on you during the school day , they MUST be turned off and concealed . Cell phones that are taken are subject consequences and parent pick up in order to return
- Purses and fanny packs are NOT allowed to be worn or taken to class at Grant middle school
Students this is “our “ school, please show respect to building and grounds, by using trash cans and doing your part to keep Grant looking it’s best. Remember to be respectful of others property to and from school.
The expectation at Grant is to keep your hands and feet to yourselves, at all times during the school day and on the way to and home from school— This means no “Play Fighting "
Students for your safety please only cross at the designated crosswalk areas locate at Chatham Road / Stange & Amos /// If crossing at Stange w/ the crossing guard you must wait behind him and wait for him to give okay
