Good morning Grant Middle School, today is Monday, August 26th  2019


Today we kick off Drop Everything & Read — Make sure you have a book to read with you every period — This week we will read  M - W - F — Read something YOU like!!!! I am reading “The Warriors Heart” by Eric Greitens.  


Attention all members of Pride of the General’s form last year please stop and see Mrs. Romer in the mobile at some point today please. 


Any student that would like to join IMSA for the 2019-2020 school year needs to pickup and application from Mrs. Monahan in room 221 and return it by Friday, August 30th.  


GMS baseball underway with a 1-2 record. Eighth graders Tayton Meyer and Carter Hood lead team in hitting both batting over .400.


Attention all Beta members and students interested in Beta, after announcements will 7th grade students please report to Mrs. Buckles’ room 203 and 8th grade students to Ms. Gibbs’ room 219 to pick up a flyer.  Sorry, teachers it will only take a few minutes.


Beta Members: T-Shirt designs are due Friday, August 30th. Please turn designs in to Miss Gibbs in room 219 or Mrs. Buckles in 203. Also, do not forget about the parent meeting on Wednesday from 5:00-5:20. You and your parent/guardian must be in attendance.


Reminder to all 6th graders you must have your physical and all vaccinations completed by September 3rd 2019 or you will be excluded from attending school until. Get to the doctor and get your shots and physical ASAP!


Meet the Teacher Night -  This Wednesday, August 28th from 5:30 - 7:00— start in gym, then Parents / Guardians follow schedule


Back to school dance Thursday, August 29th 2:30 - 4:00 — This will be an out of dress code day for $2.00 — payable in advisory that morning — The dance is $2.00 and we will have a concession stand selling snacks & drinks.


 Reminder students school starts at 8:00 every day — the building opens for breakfast at 7:30 —  Here at Grant we are "On Time and Ready to Learn Every Day! "…. because it matters and so do YOU!


Tardy and dress code enforcement start on today — you hear the music you need to hustle !!!!! Being on time matters, every minute counts.


7th graders had best attendance Friday 95%  at  followed by 6th graders at 90% and 8th grade you have work to do at  89%— whole building was at 91% - we need you here, it makes a difference 

Teacher attendance was 100% Friday


The following are daily reminders of behavior expectations and Grant rules:


Brushes , picks, combs, etc…. hair products are not allowed or too be used in class or hallways — Please keep in locker put away during the day.


Grant is a uniform school —advisory teachers please check students for uniform violations at this time  and remind them of the policy— Hoodies must be school issued, sport , club or activity or a state series competition from IESA 


Students the expectation in the hallway is to use appropriate language at all times— We are at school, be mindful of the language and respectful if corrected.


Cafeteria - raise your hand, push in chair, pick up trash , throw away trash and stack your trays today and every day!


 - Purses and fanny packs are NOT  allowed to be worn or taken to class at Grant middle school 


 Students this is  “our “ school, please show respect to building and grounds, by using trash cans and doing your part to keep Grant looking it’s best. Remember to be respectful of others property to and from school. 


 The expectation at Grant is to keep your hands and feet to yourselves, at all times during the school day and on the way to and home from school— This means no “Play Fighting "

 Students for your safety please only cross at the designated crosswalk areas locate at Chatham Road / Stange & Amos 

 Would you please now rise for the Pledge of Allegiance!
