Dear Friends of Harvard Park School,
Below please find classroom projects, needs, and/or initiatives that the staff at Harvard Park School are trying to provide for our students. Whether it is your time, your talent, or your treasure that you donate, please know that every bit makes a huge difference in the lives of our students.
If you find a cause that you feel drawn to help with please contact the office at (217) 525-3214 or contact Mr. Jim Hayes at jhayes@sps186.org
Volunteers Needed for Homework Club
Harvard Park invites those interested in working with elementary students to sign up for its Homework Club. Volunteers will help students complete homework assignments and improve their literacy and math skills.
The club will tentatively meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. beginning January 1st. For more information, please e-mail Mr. Hayes at: jhayes@sps186.org.
*All volunteers are required to complete and pass a background check; the fee for the background check is paid for by Springfield Public Schools.
Library Books Needed
The Harvard Park Library is need of new, or gently used age appropriate library books. Please contact our Literacy Coach for ways you can donate your books or financial support.
Basic Classroom Supplies
Our teachers are always in need of student consumable goods. Paper, pencils, notebooks, crayons, glue, scissors, etc. Any donation that you can find and give is greatly appreciated and will be put to good use.
Sponsor a family in need
At HP we have lots of families that are struggling to make ends meet. If you feel compelled to assist a family through this difficult time but don't know where to start, please contact HP's Parent Educator at (217) 525-3214.
Positive Behavior Incentive Program
The Positive Behavior Incentive (PBIS) Program is a rewards system at Harvard Park that rewards students for positive behavior. In the past we have given students movie and popcorn time, ice cream parties, and even pizza! Giving to the PBIS allows bigger and better incentive programs.
Sponsor a child
Would you like to help sponsor a child in need or perhaps become a mentor for a specific student. Contact HP's Parent Educator, at (217) 525-3214 to hear about some students that could use a little extra help.
Silent Auction Items Needed
Harvard Park School is looking for silent auction items to be used at our McTeacher Night Fundraiser (April). All money earned will go towards our PBIS committee, which focuses on positive rewards.
We need paper products!
Copypaper, Looseleaf and Notebook paper! With the lack of new text books teachers are often forced to make copies of books for student needs or have them write out worksheet pages in their notebooks. A box of paper runs about $30 and can last up to a whole semester! Partial boxes can be purchased as well - every little bit counts.
