Thanks to our Harvard Park Partners!
West Side is a new partner this year and we are thrilled to have them. Last year they organized a luncheon for our teaching staff, helped getting classrooms decorated and prepared, and then hosted a back to school celebration with balloons, popcorn, and free school supplies.
This year they are taking part in our mentoring program as well as becoming a major partner in school initiatives - more information is coming soon!
This is our fourth year of partnership with St. Johns. Several members are part of our Reading Mentors program which will continue this year as well. In line with the district's promising practice of increasing reading time for students, our mentors will read with students during their lunch break to build relationships and a love of reading!
In addition, volunteers collected monies to purchase hams and fixin's that were given away just in time for Spring Break.
Big Brother Big Sister works through UIS to provide over 20 mentors for individual Harvard Park students. This volunteerism is vital to our students and school and we are grateful for their time.
