August 23, 2020

Dear Iles Families,

Welcome to the 2020 - 2021 school year.  We are so excited for this new year.  As many of you are aware, this school year will start remotely. We will stay in remote learning until October 26th (or the end of the first quarter).

Technology/School Supply Distribution:
We are now a 1:1 District, which means we have a device for each student to checkout this school year.  Elementary students in grades 1st through 5th will receive an iPad. Middle school students will receive a Chromebook.   We hope to see all families, even if you have technology at home and/or you are not in need of school supplies.

You can use your own personal devices, but please note the District has purchased several paid Apps and service that will be downloaded to the school devices (which students may be required to use), that might not be available without a fee on your own device.

Iles school will be distributing technology and school supplies on Thursday, August 27th and Friday, August 28th.  This will be a drive-up service, please stay in your car. Please bring a photo ID. Only parents, guardians or those listed on the emergency card will be allowed to pick-up devices for children.   Families with multiple children should try to come during the slot of your eldest child, if that time does not work, please come at a time that works for your family.  We will try to have all materials together so you only have to make one trip.

3:15 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. for 5th and 6th grades
5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. for 7th and 8th grades

Families of 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders should pull up in front of the building on 15th Street and go as far as you can go on 15th Street.

Families of 2nd, 4th and Middle School students should go to 16th Street in front of the playground fence, where the buses usually park (similar to the spring pick-up/drop-off).

"Virtual Meet Your Teacher" and "6th Grade Virtual Zoom Orientation":
The first day of school will be Monday, August 31, 2020.  In the Return to Learn Plan, Mondays are independent learning days, however, the teachers would like to meet you and your child on the first day of school.  We will be offering "Virtual Meet Your Teacher" times on Monday, August 31, 2020.

In the elementary school (1st - 5th), teachers will be sending you information about setting up a quick (5 - 10 minutes) virtual meeting using Zoom or Google Hangouts, so you and your child can meet the teacher.  Please be on the lookout for a message from your child's teacher. The Virtual Meet Your Teacher, will not be a formal presentation such as you can expect during Parent Orientation, which will take place on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Mark your calendar—more details to come later).  Elementary Virtual Meet Your Teacher is simply a time to say "hi."

The 6th Grade Virtual Zoom Orientation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 9:00 a.m - 11:00 a.m. The Iles Middle School (IMS) teachers will reach out soon with the Zoom link and more information.
