On this day in 1986, Chicago Bulls' player Michael Jordan scored a whopping 63 points in an NBA playoff game. This set a post-season scoring record. In spite of his 63 points, his team lost to the Boston Celtics in double overtime.

RECYCLING AT JMS
We are celebrating Earth Week by starting our recycling program at JMS! Each of your teachers will have a tub that is only for paper. PLEASE do not put anything else in those tubs. Midwest Fiber has agreed to pick up our paper for recycling FREE of charge.
Starting Thursday morning, teachers will place their tubs outside their classroom door and Ms. Stewart's recycling team will be by to empty them during 1st block.
Help us do our part to keep our Earth clean and green!

DISTRICT 186 STUDENT VIDEO CONTEST
How would you like to win $300? Here's how ~ enter the District 186 Student Video Contest. Use your own time, equipment, and ideas to make a movie and enter the contest. See Mrs. Snyder for details if you are interested.
Spring pictures will be taken on Friday, April 24th. Students must wear their uniforms for the pictures.
ALL-CITY MUSIC FESTIVAL
The All-City Music Festival will be held tonight at the Prairie Capital Convention Center.
Our spring dance will be held Friday, April 24th.
YMCA DAY CAMP

MUSIC & ART FESTIVAL 2009
Where: Feitshans Academy
When: Saturday, April 25th from 11AM-7PM
Cost: $5 for advanced tickets for 6th grade age and up
Come enjoy 3 stages of live bands; hands-on art & music workshops; silent art auctions; live art demos; and much, much more!
DRESS CODE reminder ~ Shorts and capris may not be worn until May 1st! Also, skinny black jeans are not acceptable. No denim is allowed.
You may not wear long-sleeved shirts under your uniform polo. No jackets are to be worn in the classrooms. No string bags or purses should be carried into classrooms. Sagging pants will not be tolerated!
If you purchase an 8th grade t-shirt, you may wear it through the end of the school year on Friday's only. If you decorate your 8th grade t-shirt or have others sign your shirt, you will NOT be allowed to wear it.
In addition, sweatshirts may not be worn half-on, half-off. If you choose to wear a sweatshirt, you must have it on all the way.
Nose piercings are not allowed in District 186 schools. You may not wear a nose ring, a clear spacer, or a bar, or wear a band-aid to cover the piercing. If you refuse to remove the nose ring, you will be written up, sent to the office and sent home.
END OF THE YEAR TRIPS
Please remember ~ there are requirements for you to be eligible for the end of the year trips to Six Flags or Knight's Action Park.
1. GRADES: passing all classes for 4th quarter
2. ATTENDANCE: 90% attendance for the school year
3. BEHAVIOR: no suspensions during 4th quarter
Hallway sweeps will continue. Be sure to get to class on time and be in your seat before the tardy bell rings.
• Keep earning those PRIDE cards and turning them in so you will be eligible for the next Out of the Blue activity.
• Today is yoga day. Your passes will be delivered to you this morning.
• Our next Out of the Blue day will be on Wednesday. In honor of Earth Week and Earth Day, we will be cleaning up the neighborhood!
Whenever you have a guest teacher, you are to show him/her the same respect as you would your regular teacher. The guest teacher knows the BIST procedures. If you are asked to go to the Safe Seat, you must move to the Safe Seat. If you must be removed from the classroom, you will be escorted to room 109 and issued two after-school detentions.
