On this day in 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks was arrested and put in jail for refusing to give up her seat on a public bus to a white man. This was a violation of the city's racial segregation laws. Rosa Parks is known as "The Mother of the Civil Rights Movement."

Please remember to take a jacket with you to lunch. It is getting cold outside and you are not allowed to go back to your locker after you eat.

You must eat or drink all snacks before you leave the cafeteria. Nothing is allowed outside! Clean up after yourself in the cafeteria.

Students ~ You must sit on the correct side of the cafeteria. Lunch detentions will be given if you are on the wrong side!

Today will be an outside day. If you choose to throw snow, you will receive an after-school detention. Leave the snow on the ground!

When we have an inside lunch day, you must be quiet in the halls. Please be respectful and considerate of those who are in class at that time.

Yearbooks are on sale. The cost is $23. Bring a check made payable to Jefferson Middle School or cash to Mr. Battles in the main office to place your order.

7th/8th grade volleyball ~ Tryouts will be this week from 2:30-4PM. 7th grade will be today & Tuesday. 8th grade will be Wednesday & Thursday. Friday's times will be announced later.

7th/8th grade boys basketball ~ practice today at 4PM

7th/8th grade girls basketball ~ There will NOT be a bus available for the game. Please meet at Franklin Middle School at 6:15PM. Bring both uniforms.

Please support the Salvation Army Canned Food Drive! Win a pizza party for your class! The class that brings in the most food per student wins. Start bringing your canned goods and non-perishable items today. Take them to your 1st hour teacher unless you have a 1st hour elective class. We will be accepting canned goods through December 15th.

It is very important that you come to school everyday! Come to school and be prepared to learn each and every day of the school year. We need to maintain at least a 90% attendance rate for meeting AYP.

Barnes & Nobel book jackets are due today. Please give them to Mrs. Boosinger or your English teacher by the end of the day today. Ribbons will be awarded to all participants.

One week from today, Monday December 8th, the December Schwans order is due. Delivery will be Thursday, December 11th. Come to room 116 if you need a catalog.

Don't forget to turn in your PRIDE cards for prizes!

Whenever you have a guest teacher, you are to show him/her the same respect as you would your regular teacher. The guest teacher knows the BIST procedures. If you are asked to go to the Safe Seat, you must move to the Safe Seat. If you must be removed from the classroom, you will be escorted to room 109 and issued two after-school detentions.
