Every Wednesday, we will have the following inside activities:
• Reading Room in the library
• Game Room for educational board games
• Educational TV programming in the cafeteria
Outside activities every day will include:
• Walk 'n Talk
• Playing on the playground equipment
Everyone will be expected to actively participate in one of these activities.
If you have a change of address or phone number, please notify Mrs. Frye in the Guidance Office.
Teal & aqua are not acceptable uniform shirt colors.
You may NOT wear shirts or sweatshirts with signatures all over them.
You may NOT tuck your pant legs into your socks.
Earbuds/headphones must be out of your ears before you enter the building. If you do not, a staff member may take them from you and place them in the main office tagged with your name for pick up later.
Gentlemen ~ Please NO sagging of pants or shorts! If you have belt loops on your shorts or pants, you must wear a belt.
Walkers must arrive at school by 7:45AM in order to eat breakfast & have full choices of items available.
7th & 8th graders must use their assigned stairs — do not use the 6th grade hall as a shortcut!
Nooks & Kindles may NOT be brought to school.
Keep your hands to yourselves!
Restroom passes must remain in your planner. Any restroom pass sheet that is torn out of a planner will NOT be valid. You may NOT use someone else's restroom passes. If you do, you will receive inhouse as a consequence.
Please remember to be quiet in the halls especially during lunch shifts in the 6th grade hall.
Please be sure to check the "Jaguar News" bulletin board in the main lobby for important information.
Please remember to get to class on time. In the mornings, you should not be going into other classrooms to visit with your friends. Come in, go to your locker, get your supplies, go directly to your class!
Please do not share your combination with a friend. If you are having trouble opening your locker, ask an adult for help. Also, do not leave your locker "set" to open. Do NOT share your locker with anyone. If you do, you will receive inhouse as a consequence.
Gum is not allowed at JMS!
No food is allowed on buses. You may have a water bottle.
You may NOT use the hall passes that are in your planner — X them out. You may only use the restroom passes.
Binders & textbooks should NOT be left in the halls or on tables in the halls. These are your responsibility. You must put them in your locker when you are not carrying them to class!
Binders must be carried to ALL classes including your electives. If you need a replacement binder, see your guidance dean.
Behavior on our activity buses needs to improve! If you cannot behave on the activity bus, you will not be allowed to ride. Your parent/guardian will have to come pick you up after your after-school activities.
CELL PHONE POLICY
Effective Tuesday, January 20th, students cannot be in possession of cell phones during school hours. All cell phones must be kept in lockers. If a locker is damaged and will not lock, please notify the administration.
• Spring Picture Day
Don't forget that Spring Picture Day is Wednesday, April 22nd!
We will NOT be placing any more orders this school year for JMS Spirit Wear t-shirts or sweatshirts. Mrs. Collier has several t-shirts & sweatshirts in the main office. If you are interested in purchasing one of those, please check with her to see if she has your size!
• 8th Grade T-Shirts
JMS 8th graders interested in ordering the 2015 8th grade t-shirt should have their order forms & money turned in to the main office by the end of the day today.
• PE Clothes
Please take all PE clothes to the locker room before school starts in the morning. If you have any questions, see Mr. Knox or Mr. Tyler.
• Sign Language Club
Sign language club has been canceled for today.
• Brain Boosters
Brain Boosters will meet after school on Tuesdays & Thursdays in the library.
• Winter Book Challenge
The winning class for the 2015 JMS Winter Book Challenge is ……
Her classes turned in 27 reading logs making it 31% of her students who competed the challenge.
2nd place goes to Mr. Law's classes who turned in 15 reading logs or 22% of his students.
Good job to ALL who completed the challenge!
• Box Tops 4 Education
There is still time to be entered in the April raffle for a chase to win a free lunch with a guest of honor at Arby's, McDonald's, Taco Bell, KFC, or Jimmy John's. Bring in 10 unexpired boxtops attached to a "dollar" form and turn it in to your 1st hour teacher no later than Tuesday, April 21st. The drawing will take place on Wednesday, April 22nd.
• Read to the Rhythm
Boys & girls of all ages are encouraged to sign up for Read to the Rhythm!, the 2015 Summer Reading Program at Lincoln Library, the Public Library of Springfield, IL.
Summer reading begins Saturday, May 30th and ends Saturday, July 25th. When you sign up at the library, you will receive a bookmark, book bag, reading log, and calendar of events.
Fun prizes await you upon completion of your reading goals. In addition, exciting activities are planned for children of all ages!

• First Day Fund
Applications for the 2015 First Day Fund have been sent home with each student. Please fill out and return by April 24th. Parents/guardians will receive a postcard telling them when and where to pick up their school supplies in July or August. In order to receive items, you MUST bring the postcard with you.
• Spring Dance
Come to the JMS Spring Dance tonight from 6-8PM! Admission costs $3 each. There will be a live DJ and concessions in the art room.
If you have had a suspension or in-house from Thursday, April 9th through Friday, April 17th, your name will be placed on the "No Dance" list and you will not be allowed to come to the dance.
If you did not order a JMS 2014-15 yearbook, it's not too late to get one! There is a limited amount of yearbooks to sell on a 1st come, 1st served basis for $25 each. They will be available during all lunch shifts in the main lobby today.
Please remember that you may NOT have your yearbooks out during class time.
JMS JAGUARS ~ You are STUDENTS first & ATHLETES second!
Please remember to follow all school rules & to show proper sportsmanship when attending a school sporting event. If you are removed from an event, whether at JMS or another school, you may be banned from attending any future extra-curricular events for the remainder of the school year.
There will be track practice after school next week on Monday & Thursday from 2:30-4PM. See Mr. Blunk if you have any questions.
• JMS Jaguar Classic
The 2nd annual Jaguar Classic will be held Friday, May 8th from 5:30-8PM in the JMS gym. Admission costs $3.00 per person. There will be 4 games played — 2 volleyball games & 2 basketball games.

Jaguar Classic t-shirts can be ordered in advance of the event. All orders & money are due to the main office today. Order forms have been sent home. If you need another form, check the Jaguar News in the main lobby or download one from the JMS webpage.
• Springfield Junior Football League
Register now for JFL by calling (217) 836-2128 or by going online to http://www.springfieldjfl.com
JFL is open to all children in Sangamon County ages kindergarten through 8th grade. The league plays both flag & tackle football. You may register online, by mail or in person.
