TODAY IN HISTORY
On this day in 1929, Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia. King received a doctorate degree in theology. He was a leader of peaceful protests in the civil rights movement. Dr. King was a powerful public speaker. His "I Have a Dream" address is famous throughout the world.

• 7th & 8th grade girls' basketball ~ You should turn in your uniforms as soon as possible. Fines will be issued for missing uniforms.
• 6th grade volleyball ~ Practice today from 4-6PM. Be in room 213 at 2:35PM or enter through the back gym doors no earlier than 3:45PM.
TWILIGHT BOWLING FOR TECHNOLOGY
It's that time again — it's time for Twilight Bowling for Technology!
WHO: All JMS Students
WHEN: Sunday, January 17th
WHERE: Laketown Lanes
Cost: $15 for 2 hours of bowling and your shoe rental
You must pay your $15 even if you don't bowl. This is a rule of the bowling alley.
STUDENT OF THE MONTH LUNCH
Our Student of the Month lunch will be held today during your regular lunch period.
The JMS Science Fair is Wednesday, January 20th from 6-7:30PM. Students will present their projects from 6-6:45PM and awards will be presented at 6:45PM. Please plan to attend.
If you have moved recently, please give the office the new information. We need your current address and phone contact information.
At JMS, adults are in charge. When you have a guest teacher, you are expected to be respectful and helpful. Disrespect will not be tolerated.
The JMS School Store is open! Come to the main lobby before school and purchase school supplies.
SNACK ATTACK STORE
The Snack Attack Store is in the main lobby for after school before you board the buses. Each snack costs $1.
In order to cut down on the number of students arriving tardy to class, we will continue having hallway sweeps this week. Once the tardy bell has rung, if you are not in class, you will be swept and consequences will be issued.
We will be doing hallway sweeps after school! If you are not being supervised by an adult, you will be in an all day buddy room.
Last year's yearbooks are available for the low price of $10! See Ms. J-C in room 115.
Just a reminder ~ You may not wear a long-sleeved shirt under your short-sleeved uniform shirt. Girls ~ You may not tie your shirt in the back!
