On April 9, 2008, a group of students and faculty from Lawrence Education Center attended the Adult Education and Literacy Legislative Awareness Day rally at the Illinois State Capitol. It was a complete a success, and everyone had a lot of fun.
A bus full of students and staff had a great time during the rally when Lawrence Education Center joined hundreds of other adult education center students from across the state to hear speeches, cheer, and rally about why adult education is necessary and successful in the state of Illinois.
On the ride over to the Capitol, donated prizes were given out to students who knew the answers to the LOBBY DAY QUIZ. During the rally, Lawrence Education Center's own Hattie Clay was one of the featured speakers. She gave a heart-felt speech about pursuing your dreams and never giving up. Many pictures were taken in order to capture the moments, and Springfield Pepsi-Cola donated bottled water for us to enjoy on the ride home. Fun was had by all. We can't wait to attend again next year!
