High School Equivalency (GED) classes at LEC

November 2, 2021

Did you know that Lawrene Education Center offers a FREE GED preparation program?  The GED is a 4 part test which includes; Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. LEC staff help students prepare for the GED test which is taken at the local ROE. The GED program is half day, either in the morning from 9:00-Noon or 12:30-3:30. The score of 145 on each test subject is considered passing. Scoring at the passing level is a great accomplishment  Students  may go on to college, advance in a career, and earn more money. The range of 165-174 means that the skills needed to start college-level courses has been achieved and students may be exempt from placement tests or remedial (non-credit) courses in college. This will save the student money and help earn a degree faster!

If the score is in the 175-200 range, the student has  demonstrated the skills that are being taught in college-level courses and could be eligible to earn college credit! Depending on the applied program, a student may be able to earn up to: 3 credits in Math, 3 credits in Science, 3 credits in Social Studies and 1 credit in Humanities

By earning college credit, a student will have the ability to bypass certain required classes which ultimately saves time and money.
