Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Competition

The Ministerial Alliance of Springfield and Vicinity is pleased to invite you to participate in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Competition for students in grades 5-12. Three winning essays and awards will be presented at the annual Ministerial Alliance of Springfield and Vicinity Martin Luther King, Jr. Service, January 18, 2015, Emmanuel Temple Church of God in Christ, 2400 Ash Street, Springfield. Essays will be accepted until January 9, 2015.

Essays will be judged by a panel designated by the Ministerial Alliance. An award of $700 will be given to each of the elementary (5th grade only), middle school (6th thru 8th grades), and high school (9th thru 12th grades) students whose essays are determined by the judges to be the best in its category (three total awards). Winners will be announced at the Service.

DEADLINE: January 9, 2015, 3 p.m. (no exceptions)

Your essay must be typed, double-spaced; no less than 300 words and no more than 400 words. On the first page of the essay include your name, address, phone number, email address, school and current grade level. On each additional page put your name only.

Email submissions are NOT acceptable. Essays and contact information must be delivered by 3 p.m. CST, January 8, 2015 to Ms. Wickham. She will deliver them to Dr. McNeese by the 9th.
