Cross Country Team season will begin on Wednesday, August 25. We will practice from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.. There will be an activity bus to take students home.
All LMS students are invited to try this sport and see if it is a team activity that would be a fun and rewarding experience. It is a great form of competition and a fantastic way to improve your fitness and endurance for all other sports.
Students who are thinking of joining CC should begin training as soon as possible on their own.
A beginning training session would be: dynamic stretches, jogging for one mile, speedwalking for 1/4 mile, jogging for one mile, speedwalking for 1/8 mile, static stretching. As you feel stronger you should increase the length of your jog. Your workout should last at least 45 minutes. Be sure to drink water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated.
Helpful measure: 8 - 10 city blocks are equal to about a mile.
If at first you cannot jog for one mile, do not be discouraged. Work your way up to that distance. Cross Country is a sport of building mental and physical strength and endurance.
Good luck and I look forward to our first practice.
