The Springfield Public Schools Foundation will hold its 28th annual dinner celebration and student art auction on Saturday, January 30, 2010. This is a fabulous event and Lincoln Magnet School appreciates the support of the Springfield Public Schools Foundation each year. Thanks to the support of the Foundation our school has integrated more authentic books and technology and enhanced our fine arts and PE program. They are wonderful partners in our mission focused on educational excellence.
28th Annual Dinner Celebration.
A reception will be held at 6 p.m. with dinner beginning at 7 p.m. at the Sangamo Club, 227 East Adams Street, Springfield.
Featured speakers include Rob Kennedy, co-president and co-chief operating officer at C-SPAN and 1974 Springfield High graduate, and Sandra Bauer, 2009 Horace Mann Educator of the Year.
In addition to the dinner, there will be a silent auction of artwork created by students from Lanphier, Southeast and Springfield High Schools as well as the Lawrence Education Center. Attendees will also enjoy musical entertainment from Springfield public school students before and during dinner.
As in years past, the culinary virtuosity of David Radwine and Larry Langley from the Sangamo Club, and Chef Michael Higgins from Maldaner’s, will be evident. Also this year, culinary arts students from the Capital Area Career Center will have the unique opportunity to job shadow these men as preparations for the evening’s menu unfolds.
Reservations for the dinner are required and may be made by calling Julie Hammers at 525-4406. The cost is $125 per person and the deadline to make reservations is January 22, 2010. Proceeds from the annual dinner provide funding for innovative teacher grants which offer unique and exceptional learning opportunities for Springfield public school students.
Since its inception in 1981, the Springfield Public Schools Foundation has provided more than $2.5 million in support of programs and activities that directly benefit students throughout District 186.
