Students who have not been interviewed for AVID, and have turned in the application, will be interviewed this Friday.
This weekend is the last weekend to take computers home. All computers should be back on carts by Tuesday. The last day to use computers in class will be Friday, May 29th.
A great big congratulations to our state track and field competitors!!! And a congratulations to all of our sectional athletes for doing a fantastic job on Saturday. Our 8th grade boys' team earned a 3rd place overall! The athletes will compete in Peoria on Friday and Saturday.

The popular MacBook Magic classes for 6th and 7th grade students which will be held June, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from 1:45-3:45. These are computer classes held on our 1:30 dismissal days. Students who attend these classes may take their computers home for the summer. The form and $15 fee are due next week on Tuesday, May 26. Students may turn money in to the main office.
We will have another round of interviews for the students who are interested in the AVID program for next year, and were absent for the first round. Please stay tuned!
Mandatory Dental Exams
All Illinois children in kindergarten, second, and sixth grades are required to have a dental examination by May 15, 2009. The dental examination must be completed by a licensed dentist and done within 18 months of the May 15 deadline. Children may apply for a waiver from this requirement if they demonstrate an undue burden or a lack of access to a dentist.
The 'Proof of School Dental Examination Form' and the 'Dental Examination Waiver Form' are uniform for statewide use and are available on the IDPH website, www.idph.state.il.us. The dentist or other organizations/agencies may link to the website to access the forms.
Written statements from the dental office for exams scheduled within 60 days after May 15th will be accepted. The appointment must be kept and the student must present proof of a completed examination at the beginning of the next school term.
No child will be kept out of school due to this requirement.
Come have fun and get active at the PHAT Expo on Wednesday, May 13 3:30 to 7pm in the Southeast High School Gymnasium. Activities include 3 on 3 basksetball tournament, Wii games, double dutch, smoothie bar, a smoothie bar, a healthy snack concession stand, and an all star basketball game beginning at 5pm. Admission is free.
