Today is Friday, May 8th, and it is a B Day for everyone!

The LLCC essay contest ends today for 8th grade students interested in a two-year scholarship to Lincoln Land Community College. Submissions should be given to Mrs. Davis by 2:30 today!

The LHS Football coach will be here at 11:30 on Tuesday, May 12th to talk to current 8th graders who are going to Lanphier.

Come have fun and get active at the PHAT Expo on Wednesday, May 13 3:30 to 7pm in the Southeast High School Gymnasium. Activities include 3 on 3 basksetball tournament, Wii games, double dutch, smoothie bar, a smoothie bar, a healthy snack concession stand, and an all star basketball game beginning at 5pm. Admission is free.

The Southeast High School show choir will again be hosting the "Generations" show choir camp for kids ages 7-14, as their summer fundraiser. The camp will take place from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM at Jefferson Middle School, June 8th - 12th. They are combining sports and music for "Generations XTreme". The performance show will feature some of their favorites sports- themed songs as well as the lead song from Disney's "Camp Rock". They can only accept 50 students for this camp, so return registration immediately to the LMS, SSHS or JMS main office.

We are closely monitoring the recent Swine Flu Outbreak across the country and will be in communication with information as it becomes available. At this point there is no cause for alarm, as there are no confirmed cases in Illinois. Staff and students can do their part to take precautions:

The CDC recommends:

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.
Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.

Cell phones are to be used in the main office before school, at lunch, or after school Phones should not be visible or heard except when they are being used in the main office.
