Daily Announcements-Wednesday

May 6, 2009

Today is Wednesday, May 6th, and it is a B Day for everyone!

WOW! That was the word used over and over again last night in response to the Harlem Renaissance performance. The 8th graders did a wonderful job on their performances. We offer a big thank you to all who were involved-the 8th grade teachers, Mrs. Lerch, Mrs. O, Mr. Martincic, and Mrs. Lund. Also, an appreciation for those who helped behind the scenes last night-Mrs. Koonce and Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Heyen, Mr. Snow, Mrs. Murdock, Mr. Barham, Mrs. Mueth, Mrs. Vallar-Gillette. Congratulations to the 8th graders on a great performance!

The Southeast High School show choir will again be hosting the "Generations" show choir camp for kids ages 7-14, as their summer fundraiser. The camp will take place from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM at Jefferson Middle School, June 8th - 12th. They are combining sports and music for "Generations XTreme". The performance show will feature some of their favorites sports- themed songs as well as the lead song from Disney's "Camp Rock". They can only accept 50 students for this camp, so return registration immediately to the LMS, SSHS or JMS main office.

We are closely monitoring the recent Swine Flu Outbreak across the country and will be in communication with information as it becomes available. At this point there is no cause for alarm, as there are no confirmed cases in Illinois. Staff and students can do their part to take precautions:

The CDC recommends:

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.
Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.

Cell phones are to be used in the main office before school, at lunch, or after school Phones should not be visible or heard except when they are being used in the main office.
