Red Ribbon Activities

Today is Monday, October 20, and it is a B day.

The weather was perfect for our State Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Maxwell Field in Normal, IL.. Both of our teams did very well. Twelve out of fourteen of our runners ran new personal best times. Our girls' team placed 21st in the state, and our boys' team placed 18th. Our school was the only Springfield public city school to be represented by full teams this year. Congratulations to all of our runners on an outstanding season.

The announcements will be on the right side of the webpage from now on, reserving the middle section for important announcements, and highlights from school.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week. We will start on Monday with Crazy Hair Day, and the collection of pennies for United Way! (see the attached form)

Parent conferences are filling up. We have the options of Wednesday, October 22 from 12:00-3:00 (no apponitments left), Thursday, October 30th from 5:00-8:00, and Friday, October 31st from 8:00-2:30. You need an appointment to meet with your student's teacher, so please call 525-3236 by October 24th to reserve a conferences for the 30th and 31st.

Seventh grade students who have Health class this semester will soon be completing a career exploration unit. The goal is to help students think about their future career choices. The activities include a career interest inventory to help students identify general career interests, a four-year high school plan prepared by each student, research into post-secondary training options and a visit to Lincoln Land Community College. Your student will be bringing home a copy of their 4-year high school plan and their career choice. This would be a great time to talk with your student about his or her career interests, and share your own experiences and suggestions. You are invited to join your student during the field trip to visit Lincoln Land Community College on November 7. Call Mrs. Kruger at 525-3236 for more information.

ISAT RESULTS: LMS continues to score well, and many of our students made personal growth on their scores. Mrs. Heyen, our Dean, went into classrooms to explain the individual reports that were given to students. She will be available during parent/teacher conferences to discuss your student's results with you.The staff has invited students to after-school instruction for Literacy and Math based on ISAT scores and current performance. Please return the forms to school, as we plan to start the after-school programs this week.
