Today is Wednesday, October 15, and it is an A day.

The announcements will be on the right side of the webpage from now on, reserving the middle section for important announcements, and highlights from school.

The pumpkin carving intramural on Tuesday was lots of fun, with only a few little accidents. There are pictures in the photo gallery on the main page. Please support the Washington Park Carillon Walk this weekend!

Parent conferences are filling up. We have the options of Wednesday, October 22 from 12:00-3:00, Thursday, October 30th from 5:00-8:00, and Friday, October 31st from 8:00-2:30. You need an appointment to meet with your student's teacher, so please call 525-3236 by this Friday to reserve your conference time for the 22nd, or October 24th to reserve a conferences for the 30th and 31st.

The first BETA meeting for students who were in BETA last year will be held on Thursday, October 16th from 2:30-4:00. Those students interested in becoming an officer may sign up outside of Mrs. Heyen's office.

Dubois School is looking for volunteers to work their Fall Festival next Saturday, October 18th from 10:45-2:15. This is a great opportunity for BETA students to earn service hours, but the opportunity is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. After you have checked with your parents, you may sign up outside of Mrs. Heyen's office.

There is another opportunity for service hours by volunteering at the YMCA's Fall Family Festival on Friday, October 17th. The hours are 3:00-5:00, 5:00-7:00, and 7:00-9:00. Please call Angie Sowle at 544-9846 to sign up.

We are having some concerns with dress code issues. This is a reminder that skirts that are frayed on the bottom are against dress code. Also, skirts need to be finger-tip length, even if they have shorts under them.

Seventh grade students who have Health class this semester will soon be completing a career exploration unit. The goal is to help students think about their future career choices. The activities include a career interest inventory to help students identify general career interests, a four-year high school plan prepared by each student, research into post-secondary training options and a visit to Lincoln Land Community College. Your student will be bringing home a copy of their 4-year high school plan and their career choice. This would be a great time to talk with your student about his or her career interests, and share your own experiences and suggestions. You are invited to join your student during the field trip to visit Lincoln Land Community College on November 7. Call Mrs. Kruger at 525-3236 for more information.

ISAT RESULTS: LMS continues to score well, and many of our students made personal growth on their scores. Mrs. Heyen, our Dean, went into classrooms to explain the individual reports that were given to students. She will be available during parent/teacher conferences to discuss your student's results with you.The staff has invited students to after-school instruction for Literacy and Math based on ISAT scores and current performance. Please return the forms to school, as we plan to start the after-school programs this week.
