Today is Wednesday, April 16th. Today is an A day.
Our 7th graders will be going to the ball game in St. Louis on Thursday. It is supposed to be a beautiful day! Be sure to follow the trip guidelines, and bring sunscreen. Behavior today will determine final decisions on your ability to attend. We have had too many incidents of students saying and doing mean things to each toehr. This behavior is NOT what we expect of tolerate. School rules and guidelines, including dress code, are in place for all field trips. Thanks to the 95% of you who make us proud of LMS!
We had two very successful chess players last Friday night! 8th grader Edwin B. took first place overall in the Kiwanis Chess Tournament. 6th grader Connor R. took 3rd place overall. Congratulations to all!
Lincoln Land Community College awards a scholarship to one eighth grade deserving student from each of the five public middle schools each year. The scholarship will be for two years and will be awarded after graduating from high school. To qualify for consideration as the Lincoln Magnet School Scholarship winner, please write a short essay explaining why you deserve the scholarship. Attach the essay to the application form found on Mrs. Heyen's table. Submit the form and your essay to Mrs. Davis by 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008.
We have had several phones and electronic devices missing in the past few days. When a student reports something missing, we ask that they write up a description so that I can announce it. If you find an item, you need to turn it into the office. If it is found in your possession, and has been reported missing, we treat it as a theft. This is a suspendible offense! Please help us return items to their rightful owners by turning them in at the office.
There is information about the SHG Cheerleading tryouts on Mrs. Heyen's table. The informational meting is April 14th. Tryout clinics are April 28-May 1. Tryouts are May 2nd. One of our former LMS students was on their squad for three years.
Parents, we have a spring field trip planned at each grade level. These trips are all related to the curriculum for that grade level, and enhance the learning experience for your student. If it is a financial burden for you to pay the trip fee, PLEASE call the office and talk to Mrs. Kruger. We do not want any student to miss out on these opportunities due to finances.
Just a reminder that students with the 1-to-1 computers have a HUGE responsibility in protecting those computers! If you do not have the insurance rider on your home owner's policy, State Farm offers it for $30 a year. With screen repairs costing $775.00, the rider is a good investment. Please call Fredia Hawthorne at 217 529-4935 for a Personal Article Policy. You would only qualify for it if you have a good claims history, but it is worth checking into.
Students should not have cell phones or electronic devices visible in the hallways. I-pods are to be used in class with teacher approval only! Visible items will be confiscated. Cell phones are to be used after school OUTSIDE, during lunch in the main office.
