Today is Tuesday, March 4, and it is an A day.

Springfield High School Scarlet Line Poms will be holding their tryouts and workshop from April 7-10. There will also be an informational meeting on March 17th at 4:00pm at Springfield, in room 352. If any young ladies are interested in trying out, tryout packets will be available as of March 10th and at the informational meeting.

Expanding Your Horizons in Math, Science and Technology-A hands-on career conference for girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grade, will be held at the Public Affairs Center at U of I at Springfield on Saturday, March 8. There are workshops for students and parents. The cost is $10.00 per person. For more information, log on to www.aauw-il.org/springfield, or call 529-4165 Meise Fahsl. The Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) is jut around the corner! The ISAT measures individual student achievement and shows how well students and schools are performing based on the Illinois Learning Standards. The test results also identify areas of strength and weakness for students and schools. The ISAT tests will be given to all sixth, seventh and eighth students during March 3-14, 2008. Parents should make every effort possible to have their child at school and arriving on time during this testing. Listed below are the areas that each grade level will be tested.

Sixth Grade: Reading, Math and Writing
Seventh Grade: Reading, Math and Science
Eighth Grade: Reading, Math and Writing

Here are our scheduled activities for the testing days:
Tuesday-Gear up for the ISAT (wear sports or team "gear")
Wednesday-"Reddy" for the ISAT (wear red)
Thursday-An apple a day makes the ISAT OK (students will get apples)
Friday-Nuts about the ISAT (trail mix for snacks)
